WPX Hosting Review

In this WPX hosting review (used to be Traffic Planet Hosting), I’m going to share my experience with you as a two year WPX hosting user. I’m not going to sugar coat anything, I’ll show you what I like and don’t like about it, and let you decide if this is the right hosting company for you.

Background of WPX Hosting

WPX hosting is running by Terry Kyle, a famous internet marketer whom I first heard about on Warrior Forum. He always gives solid advices and also runs his own internet marketing forum named “Traffic Planet”, I guess that’s why it was called Traffic Planet Hosting at first.

I didn’t know about this hosting service until I heard it from some well known internet marketers. I decided to give it a try because I was starting to build an authority site and cheap hosting company was not an option.

Unlike any other hosting companies, they offer only managed hosting (SSD) for WordPress, no cloud, no VPS, no dedicated server, just WordPress. That is probably the reason why they are so good at it.

They are not using Cpanel, which can be good or bad, depends on your personal preferences. Their hosting panel is clean and simple, they simplify everything for the users and you can access everything in just a few clicks. There is no complicated setup needed.

Now, let’s start with the good stuff, shall we?

Having used WPX hosts for nearly two years and still using it, I can tell you that the first thing I love about it is the level of support they provide. Their support is absolutely fantastic, live chat was almost always up (there was once during my early subscription period, I had to leave an offline message but they replied back pretty quickly). Since then, the live chat support has always been instant.

There’s something about their support staffs, they all seem pretty knowledgeable and always help me solve my issues without any problem. It’s like, if you have any WordPress or hosting issue, you can totally count on them.

WPX hosting provides free site migration for their customers (based on the pricing plan), which is a very valuable service for both newbies and pros. If you signed up for the 5 website plan, you will get 5 site migrations for free. Other hosting companies usually charge for it after the first free site migration.

Staging Area – This is a very nice feature that I had been waiting for and it is finally here. You could make a copy of your live site and make changes to it, make sure everything is okay before you merge it to the live site.

Daily Backups – They make a daily backup of your site and hold them for up to 28 days. A must have feature for every webmaster. This has saved me from a total nightmare (yep, I screwed up big time).

Uptime Guarantee

There is no need to say (I’m going to say it anyway), uptime is very important for any web sites. If your site is down, you won’t be making any money. So far I have not noticed any downtime on my sites hosted on WPX hosting. Also, I just realized WPX hosting is offering a 99.95% uptime guarantee, which is more than the usual 99.9% from other hosting companies, pretty impressive I say!

WPX hosting has enterprise level DDOS and malware protection. So far everything is okay for me, I guess it’s a good sign, isn’t it?

SSL installation

Free SSL by Let’s Encrypt will be provided. Installation can be done in less than a minute without using any WordPress plugin.

Alright, that’s pretty much all the good things about WPX hosting, let’s see what possible cons about them.

WPX hosting’s plan is not cheap, the cheapest plan starts from $24.99 per month. If you are just starting out with a starter site or tight on budget, then this might not be a good fit for you and you should probably consider other hosting companies with cheaper plans.

Feature Limitations

Staging Area – Creating a staging area will use up one of your web site slots. If you already have 4 sites hosted then you could only make one staging copy. In my opinion, they should have made it an exception for staging sites, maybe just cap the total number of copies based on the pricing plan.

Backups – Daily backup made by the system is not downloadable. In their defense, you could get a downloadable copy if you asked for it. Simply tell them you wish to download a manual backup copy, then they will open a ticket for you and send you the link when it’s ready. Other than that, you can create one manual backup copy through the user dashboard (not downloadable) and it lasts for 24 hours only.

Server Locations

You can only choose to host in the USA or UK. It’s better to use a CDN service (Cloudflare comes with a free plan) if you decided to host your sites that are located in other countries.

  • Fantastic live chat support
  • Hassle free site migration
  • Free WordPress optimization by the team
  • Staging area feature
  • Daily backups
  • Enterprise level security
  • Simple and intuitive admin panel

  • Hosting plan is not cheap
  • Staging area copy occupies your web site slot
  • Backup copy is downloadable on request only
  • Limited server locations

If you want hands-off website optimization, professional level of support without the hassle of figuring everything out by yourself, then WPX hosting is for you. If you are just starting out a new blog without much traffic or tight on budget, then you might want to consider choosing another hosting company with cheaper plans and move over later when you have a bigger audience size (and more money of course).
